Hidden by Andy Nyman
Hidden by Andy Nyman
The performer offers to demonstrate how he became so dexterous as a magician by revealing an exercise called Dead Cutting. The purpose of the exercise is to practice cutting an exact number of cards clean off the top of the pack. The magician demonstrates by succeeding at cutting exactly 12 cards off the top.

Then it's a spectators turn to give it a try...A spectator is asked to place any coin, their wallet and their watch onto the table. They do so, placing them down in any order. The performer explains that the objects are going to act as markers and removes a deck of cards from his pocket. He asks the spectator to try and cut exactly 10 cards off the top of the deck. They do so and are instructed to place the pile in front of their coin.

The magician then asks them to cut another pile, this time 12 cards and place the pile by their watch. Finally, the spectator is asked to try to cut 15 cards, which go by their wallet.

The performer now admits to misleading the audience a bit, explaining that the lesson wasn't about being dexterous, but about misdirection. He explains that by giving them a difficult and specifiic task to concentrate on, it mentally persuades them away from what is actually happening. The top cards of each pile are slid forward to the object they are by. What would have happened if they had cut even just one card more or one card less in each pile? The piles are now turned over to show standard playing card faces. The card cut by the coin is turned over, and the word Coin is seen to be printed on the card! The card by their watch says Watch and, of course, the card by their wallet says Wallet boldly across the face.

Comes with all of the necessary, specially-printed cards on Bicycle stock and detailed instructions.

The cards are lifted and nothing has happened. The case is then lifted off of the table and the cellophane is lowered. The symbols visually melt together, spelling out the selected card!

Hoffmans Jumping Card
Hoffmans Jumping Card
This prop has been described by Professor Hoffmann on page 130 of his Modern Magic, making it over a dozen decades old. But the title of the book is not a misnomer, and the item is as effective today as it was over a century ago. It has an element of surprise and audience participation that is bound to get a reaction, even from people bored with card tricks.

Three cards are selected from a deck of cards. The cards are returned to the deck. The deck is shuffled and placed in an attractive wood houlette. You pick up the houlette and walk into the audience. Within inches of the audience, you ask someone to blow on the box, apparently to make the selected cards rise. But it seems they blew too hard! Instantly the three chosen cards fly out of the box and flutter to the stage.

No threads, no hook up. No motors, no sand. This is an intriguing and entertaining prop for your act. (If you have the book, you can check it out) We have produced this ancient effect as a quality prop, in wood, with inlay trimmings, and durably polished. A prop the Professor would have approved of. It comes complete with instructions - you use your own deck of cards.

Honest Cheat Poker Routine by Alan Bursky
Honest Cheat Poker Routine by Alan Bursky
The Honest Cheat Poker Routine is a fantastic five-minute humor-filled card act, perfect for the close-up or stand-up performer. There are many poker and gambling demonstration routines around, but none that pack the humor and multi-level climaxes of this one. Best of all, it's super-easy to do with NO SLEIGHTS needed, and it can be performed with any deck!

The magician proposes to play a hand of poker with a spectator and promises to never, ever cheat, but as soon as he starts to deal, it's obvious the magician is trying to win the game with blatant and funny card trickery. As the audience will loudly point out, the magician deals himself too many cards, discards too few, and keeps ending up with more cards than the spectator.

To make the game fair, the spectator and two other volunteers PICK THEIR OWN HANDS from the discard pile. In an amazing QUADRUPLE climax, the spectators reveal that they have ended up with two full houses and a straight flush, but the magician beats all three with a royal flush in Spades!

The Honest Cheat Poker Routine uses any deck! No gimmicked cards, phony-looking moves, or boring moments! Reset time is quick, and it can be done surrounded. It's visual, funny, and commercial! Entire routine detailed in a 7-page booklet.

I've seen Alan Bursky do this routine dozens of times. It always kills! - Johnny Thompson

One of the funniest lines in my show was written for me by Alan Bursky. I really want to learn this routine! - Lance Burton

In A Bind by Jay Sankey
In A Bind by Jay Sankey
IN A BIND is so visually arresting you'll have to remind the audience to blink!

Display a small spiral bound memo pad and a deck of cards. You pick up the notebook and explain that you're going to act as a magician AND a mentalist. You proceed to openly write a prediction down in the pad. A spectator now selects a card and then returns it to the pack. You now explain that a mentalist would simply PREDICT the card selected and a magician would have to FIND it. With that... you begin to slowly rub the spiral binding of the notebook against the deck. Suddenly one card, from the middle of the pack, literally becomes BOUND within the spiral coil!

When the pad and card are turned...you have written the correct name and, of course, the bound card is the selection! You have to see this to believe it! The card is truly bound among the sheets of paper in the pad - The deck is legitimate and everything can be examined - IN A BIND can be performed at any time during your routine - This is SO cool looking; you'll be as amazed as your audience!

In Flight by David Regal
In Flight by David Regal

The performer hands a spectator a deck of cards and instructs him to make sure all the cards are different, and to then shuffle the deck in any manner he desires. At that point a rubber band is placed around the deck and the deck is sent out into the audience where three different spectators each peek at a card and commit it to memory. THERE IS NO DECK SWITCH.

Upon return of the deck – which is not inspected in any way – the performer correctly divines the three thought-of selections in the manner of the classic Tossed-Out Deck.

"A very fine method and presentation... I would recommend it unhesitatingly." - Herb Zarrow

"First a word of advice. Trust me when I suggest that all well seasoned 'workers' toss out your Tossed-Out-Decks! That's right: get rid of them!

Once you experience David's In Flight, you will be in command of the most bewildering and diabolical feat of pure mentalism one could imagine. I can personally attest to the stunning impact this effect had on the very knowledgeable attendees at the 2004 4F convention.

Included with the ingenious deck and professional script, David has been granted permission to share a 'wonderful subtlety' of Wayne Dobson's. On a personal note: in the early days I became friends with the legendary David Hoy and witnessed his signature performance of this effect on many occasions. If possible, Mr. Hoy would be the first to give In Flight a standing ovation." - Roger Klause

Comes complete with a specially manufactured deck of cards, rubber bands, a 10-page booklet detailing David’s complete routine, and, with permission, a special tip from Wayne Dobson that will turn the revelations into a sure fire applause cue!

Infra-Red Box by Werry
Infra-Red Box by Werry
Let a spectator choose a playing card (or ESP card). Let's say the Eight of Hearts. The card is placed face up on the table. Show a small white disc on both sides to be blank (and it is!). You sign it on one side and the spectator signs it on the reverse side. The disc is then placed into the transparent Infra-Red Box.

Because the box is transparent, both signatures can be seen on the disc. The spectator places the box onto the chosen card and makes a magical gesture. He then opens the box and drops out the disc. Strange as it may seem, the name of the playing card is now printed in a different color underneath the signature on one side of the disc! Everything can be immediately examined!

  • There is no switching of the disc or box!
  • The disc is clearly seen white on both sides with only the signatures on it!
  • No writing gimmick is used!
  • Can be repeated with a different card!
  • You can make your own prediction with any symbol or card value you want!
  • No chemical inks used!

Let the Infra-Red Box mysteriously light up by using Rocco's D-Lite. "D-Lite" not included.
