Color Me a Hat

This is a nice and colorful routine for Kid show performers, with easy to carry pack flat props.

The performer displays a window envelope, with the picture of a Rabbit in an outline Top Hat, which has no color. The spectators are invited to select a color for the Top Hat from a chart of different shades. When the picture is again displayed, the Top Hat is magically colored in the selected color, and the picture can be handed out for examination. And the selected Hat in the shade card has been magically replaced by a colorless outline one.

These are two clever props, blended into a nice routine. You could ofcourse color the hat without using the card, just ask the kids to call out their favorite color ! A truly ingenious take on a classic plot. You display a small toy paratrooper with a parachute on his back. You toss the soldier over the heads of your audience and he floats down into some one's lap. You ask that person to come on stage and to bring a twenty dollar bill. You take the bill rip off a corner and hand that comer to the spectator. The rest of the bill is destroyed. The spectator does not look happy!

It's time to call in the Marines! You ask the spectator to look closely at the soldier they've been holding the entire time. The spectator discovers the soldier has a back pack. When they open it they are stunned to find their missing bill! It's a perfect match for the corner they now hold!

The magicians shows a deck of cards, and the spectator is asked to select a card. Let's assume the spectator chooses the Queen of clubs.

The magician continues and states that the spectator's selection was actually predicted by the magician. The prediction, so the magician claims, is the card itself! OK, not that impressive...But wait! The magician takes out a coin (which can be borrowed) and starts to scratch off the top layer of the back of the spectator's card to reveal the text: "Congratulations, you chose the Queen of Clubs"!

Ring Off Spoon

We supply the teaspoon with the apparatus, but you could even use a borrowed teaspoon to perform this, making it seem completely impromptu in nature. The ring fits easily over the stem, but cannot go over the bowl of the spoon. The performer covers the ring on the spoon with a handkerchief, asking a spectator to firmly hold the stem of the spoon through the handkerchief. Using a pack of plastic playing cards, a borrowed lit cigarette is held against the back of one of the cards. The cigarette is then pushed slowly thorough the card and it REALLY melts through!

From the other side of the card, the cigarette is completely pulled out! An adhesive sticker is then placed over the hole to fix the damage. Remove the sticker, and, to everyone's amazement, the card is totally restored!

Naturally, the response is to do it again! and so you do! Once again, you repeat the miracle of pushing a lit cigarette through the same card. It is pushed through as before, leaving the card intact and handed out for examination!

Stiff Rope

The magician displays a piece of rope about 30 inch long. Rope is coiled over the magician's hand to prove it is just an ordinary rope. The magician now stretches the rope between his two hands, horizontally, and pretends to hypnotize the rope. One hand is now released, and the rope stands rigid like a stick. The magician merely blows on the rope, and it falls down limp once again.

The rope may be used as a comedy prop with another trick, or as an effect by itself. The rope may be made to stand horizontally, or in a near vertical position. It cannot be made stiff in a perfectly vertical position. You may call up two spectators and ask each of them to blow on the rope held between your hands in turn. When one spectator blows, the rope falls limp, and when the other spectator blows, the rope remain erect.

The rope may also be held at the center when it is stiff. Most magicians will have probably seen a presentation of the effect, ranging from mildly funny to outrageously naughty. We will leave the exact presentation to your taste and discretion.

Sure Grip

Just smear your hands thinly with 'Sure Grip to ensure a perfect grip on any object. Try it when second or bottom dealing and you will be pleasantly surprised with the results (can be concealed as a daub pot about your person for use when necessary).

Svengali Deck Bicycle, Red/Blue Back

A card is selected and returned to the pack which is then shuffled. The magician then feels the backs of the cards one at a time and is able to find the selected card by sensing which card is warmer from the spectators touch! The selected card is then shuffled into the pack again only to jump to the top of the deck. The cards are then cut once placing the selected card in the middle of the pack - but say the magic words and the selected card is on top again!

This is a very useful gimmick that allows you to perform many PK miracle effects. You can find others uses in magic: effects with paper clips, rings, keys, coins, etc. Stopping a watch with the power of the mind is a very strong effect. You ask a wrist watch from any spectator and you stop it at your absolute control. Perform a Chop Cup routine with a paper or plastic cup and then give everything for examination. Show two standard teaspoons, rub the handle of one of the spoons on your sleeve and put one spoon on top of the other at the handles. The second spoon is magically suspended from the first. Give the bottom spoon a gentle push and it will spin while remains suspended. Finally you remove the bottom spoon and immediately hand both spoons for examination.

Alien Alteration
